Access ADR

What is Access ADR?

Access ADR is a program of the Mediation Center of the Pacific that offers accessible and affordable dispute resolution options for resolving business, family and community disputes.

Dispute resolution refers to informal processes that help people resolve their conflicts without going to court. Through ACCESS ADR, the Mediation Center of the Pacific offers a variety of processes including mediation, facilitation and partnering.

What are the Advantages to Access ADR?

ACCESS ADR provides individuals in conflict situations with options to resolve their issues in a less costly manner than going to court.

ACCESS ADR provides the participants with the ability to choose:

  • 1 The process that is most appropriate for resolving the issue(s)
  • 2 The neutral that is best suited to helping the participants work through the issues
  • 3 The hours and timeline that best fits the participants schedules

How does the program work?

Participants may select the neutral and process that best meets their needs. A Client Services Specialist will work with you to identify the appropriate process for your situation.

Mediation

An informal process in which a neutral third party, the mediator, helps people communicate and resolve their differences by coming up with their own solutions. The mediator works with the parties in joint and private sessions to facilitate communication and enable the parties to “hear” their differences, solve problems and rebuild relationships for the future. Agreements are incorporated into a written Memorandum of Understanding.

Partnering

Partnering is a process that strengthens collaboration, communication and mutual respect among individuals who are working together on a specific project, goal or mission. Engaging in a Partnering process focuses the participants on their commitment to their mutual goal or mission, and assists them in identifying and agreeing on guidelines for effective communication, coordination and cooperation to prevent conflicts and ensure the mission or goal is achieved.

Facilitation

An impartial facilitator works with key stakeholders to design and conduct a process that enables all participants to: accomplish the desired purpose and outcomes; resolve difficult issues; and ensure that everyone participates.
